When do you need to bring your child in?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children visit the dentist when they get their first tooth or by their first birthday. Starting dental visits at an early age can aid in early detection and management of oral conditions, establish healthy habits and oral care, and cultivate a favorable impression for your child.

But they're only baby teeth...

Some of those teeth will be present until 12 years old, so it’s important to take care of them. Tooth decay, also known as dental caries, is the number one chronic health problem of children. Dental disease is infectious and progressive. The bacteria that cause it are transmissible and the disease is preventable.

What can you expect at this appointment?

Dr. Bri will work with you to address questions and concerns regarding your child’s dental development. She will guide you on what to expect with your child’s oral development and provide tips to care for their teeth. We want you and your child to have a positive, well-informed dental experience.

How can you prepare for this visit?

Read books and watch shows with your child regarding their first dental visit. Refrain from saying incriminating words, such as shot, hurt, etc. We have our own, more kid-friendly lingo, such as sleepy juice, Mr. Whistle, Mr. Thirsty, etc. Remember your child can read your energy, so try to be as relaxed and as positive as possible.
